  • REMARKS: Wadi Wurayah National Park (WWNP). Plants used by honeybees for nectar collection for honey production. Tephrosia apollinea is known to be toxic to goats. can vary in appearance, from scraggly to very leafy, with pink, dark magenta and green flowers, with very fine silver hairs, or longer hairs. it is one of the most common plants in the lower mountains throughout the UAE. It is not grazed by feral goats and donkeys and where it is dominant plant, it is an indicator of overgrazing. can be successfully used in curb planting.

Moderately salt tolerant. The plant is known for its medicinal properties and has significant anti-bacterial properties; the leaves and the root have been used to treat bronchitis, cough, earache, wounds and bone fractures by herbalists in countries like Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Erect, stiff, perennial, silvery plant, up to 50 cm high, branches glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Leaflets 2-4 pairs rarely more, oblong, retuse, canescent silky on both sides, 20-45 mm long, 5-12 mm broad. Inflorescence a leaf-opposed, 5-12 flowerd, raceme longer than leaves. Bract minute, subulate. Pedicel 2-4 mm long. Calyx 4-5 mm long, lobes triangular-lanceolate, pubescent. Corolla violet; standard pubescent externally. Pods linear-oblong, nearly falcate, 3-4 cm long, pubescent, 6-9 seeded. Flowering from October-April.
