Erect or decumbent, perennial, up to 70 cm high, pubescent. Rachis 2-3 cm long, leaflets 5-9, 2.5-4 cm long and 0.8-1.5 cm broad, oblanceolate or elliptic, acute or obtuse, glabrous above. Stipules present. Flowers 1-3 in the leaf-axils. Pedicel shorter than the calyx. Calyx 4-6 mm long, pubescent. Corolla purble; standard up to 10 mm long, pubescent outside claw of the keel petal less than half the blade. Stigma penicillate. Pod 3.5-6 cm long and 3-4 mm broad, appressed hairy, 6-8 seeded. Seeds oval or oblong, brown. 

Flowering from October to May.
Gravelly and sandy places.
