Annual or biennial herb, 30-9- cm high. Stem erect, branching from base. Basal leaves 7-15 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, linear-oblong, obtuse often cordate base, wavy, with long petioles nearly as long as blade. Flowers clustered in dense whorls subtended by small leaves. valves oblong-lanceolate, reticulate, all with a usually larhe wart, and with 1-3 subulate, straight teeth at each margin. 

Flowering from February to June.
Gardens farms, waste and damp places.
