Edible fruit. Prescribed for bilious affections. used in scabies and other skin diseases.

Deciduous, many-branched, spiny shrub, nearly rounded in outline, about 2 meter high. Branches divaricate, flexuous, hairy to white tomenstone. Stipular spines, 5-115 mm long, in pairs one of them shorter and curved or sometimes absent. Leaves 1-1.5 cm long, ovate-orbicular, apiculate, entire, hairy to velvety on both sides, 3-nerved. Petiole 2-5 mm long, hairy, pedicels about 1 cm long. Flowers small, axillary, yellowish-green. Sepals triangular, tomentose as long as petals. Disk 10-lobed. Ovary bilocular, style 2 united nearly to middle. Fruit 6-8 mm long, globular, seeds 4-5 mm long, yellowish- brown. 

Flowering from March to May.
Desert plant, in silty basins, and roadsides.
