Perennial herb, 20-30 cm high, densly silky villous, often silvery. Leaves rosulate, linear-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, entire. Scapes erect or ascending, 10-20 cm long, usually longer than leaves, spikes cylindrical, 3-8 (-14) cm long, interrupted at base. Bracts nearly as long as calyx, herbaceous, glabrous or velvety midrib; tip long pilose. Calyx-lobes long-pioles at tip, with scarious margin. Corolla lobes broadly ovate to orbicular, concave, shortly apiculate, glabrous. Capsule ellipsoid, 2-seeded. seeds brown, elliptic, 2-3 mm long. 

Flowering from February to April.
Mainly sandy soil near mountains, hillsides and wadies.
