Annual herbs, villous-fleecy, pale-green, stemless, 5-12 cm high. Leaves rosulate, linear to lanceolate, acute, with remote linear-lanceolate lobes, hairy. Scapes more or less as long as leaves, hairy, erect to decumbent. Spikes ovoid to cylindrical, 1-2 cm long, the younger spikes densely yellowish-woolly. Bracts as long as calyx, obovate, concave at base, with green herbaceous midrib, fleecy at back and tip, and with scarious margins. Calyx-lobes obovate, nearly equal, obtuse, 1.5-2 mm long, membranous, veinless except near base, glabrous, fleecy at tip. Corolla-lobes glabrous, orbicular-ovate, acute, with dark spot at base. Capsule broadly ellipsoid, 2-seeded, about 2 mm long, seeds brown, smooth, glossy, elliptic, 1-1.5 mm long. 

Flowering from February to April.
Mainly sandy soils and roadsides.
