Moderately salt tolerant. High value forage and widely cultivated. Honey nectar plants.

This species is similar to the Chloris barbata, but its taller, robust, glabrous grass with narrrow leaves. Culms naked above, carrying an umbel-like of digitate 6-15 spikes, reaching 7-10 cm long. Lemma without hairtuft. 

Flowering from March-May.
Irrigated land, common on cultivations.
