Annual or perennial herb, 5-120 cm high, glabrous. Stems or scapes decumbent or procumbent, leafless, 2-forked from neck, ending in a solitary head or in a head cluster. Radical leaves rosulate, runcinate or pinnatifid, divided into many triangular, toothed lobes, white-aculeate along margin. Involucral bracts obtuse, ovate to oblong, with a wide white-hyaline margin. Florets yellow, longer than thee involucre. Achenes 3-4 mm long, 1-1.5 mm broad, winged, whitish, spongy, truncate-retuse at apex, with a caducous pappus, of equal white hairs. 

Flowering from February to May.
Sandy soil.
