Tall, delicate, glabrous, annual herb, with erect, usually slender stem, up to 70 cm high, often leafy below, much branched, paniculate-corymbose above. Leaves thin, runcinate into ovate, bristly-toothed lobes, the lower short-petioled the rest sessile, broad-auricled. Heads small, numerous in a spreading rich naked panicle, yellow. Pedicels 1-2 cm long, filiform. Involucral bracts calyx-like Achenes obtusely 4-lobed at base, the outer black; the inner white, nearly 4-angled wrinkled. Pappus persistent, longer than achenes. 

Flowering from February to April.
Rocky damp places, hillsides and wadi beds.
