perennial, glabrous herb, up to 30 cm high. Stem branching from neck. Root-leaves rosetted, elongated, up to 15 cm long, deeply pinnatifid or pinnatipartite into slender, linear, entire or sparingly denticulate, white-mucronate lobes, about 1 mm broad; cauline leaves smaller, with minute appendages at base. Heads about 1 cm across, terminal, or axillary, ovate or cylindrical few-flowered, yellow. Involucral bracts; the outer ovate, abruptly white-tipped; the inner linear-lanceolate. Pappus persistent, longer than achenes. Flowering from February to April.
