Low to moderate salinity tolerance, can be used as a vegetable. Crushed and applied on scorpion stings, snake bites and itchy skin rash.

Annual erect glabrous herb up to 70 cm high. Stem slender, simple or branched, more or less angular, green to reddish. Leaves 3-6 cm long and 1-4 cm wide, alternate, ovate-lanceolate to rgomboid, obtuse, glabrous, or with few hairs on the lower surface venation; long-petiolate nearly as long as the lamina. Flower-clusters, green, in a naked, axillary and terminal, panicled slender spikes, 2-10 cm long, male and female flowers intermixed. Bracts and bracteolate trianngular or ovate, acute shorter than the perianth lobes. Perianth 3-lobes, 0.1-0.2 cm long, oblong, acute, with green midrib and white margined. Stamens 3. Utricle rugose, acute indehiscent, 1-1.5 mm long, green or reddish. 

Flowering from February to June.
