Greyish perennial herbs, up to 25 cm high. Stems prostrate to ascending branching from woody base, hairy. Leaves stiff, opposite or whorled, 4-12 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, narrowly-linear or lanceolate, acute-mucronate with revolute margins. Stipules scarious, silvery, lanceolate. Flowers 2-3 mm long, many in dense cymes. Bracts scarious with median nerve. Sepals 5, distinct 1-1.6 mm long, ovate, mucronate, scarious-margined, and prominent green nerve. Petals 5, shorter than sepals. Style as long as the ovary; stigma capitate. Seeds smooth, grooved at back. Flowering from March-April.
