Glabrous, annual herb, 3-10 cm high. Stems usually branched below. Leaves ovate to obovate, tapering into a petioles, 3-12 mm long, 2-5 mm wide. Stipules and bracts entirely scarious. Inflorescence lax cymes; pedicels as long as or longer than calyx. Sepals about 2 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, acute, with scarious margins. Petals lanceolate, white, shorter than the sepals. Stamens 3 or 5. Capsule 1-2 mm long. Seeds minute, triangular-reniform. 

Flowering from February to April.
