Infusion of roots and leaves used to treat hemorrhoids and wounds. Also used to treat cough and kidney problems. Used as fodder grass.
Perennial grass, spreading in all directions by creeping rhizomes and stolons, rooting at the nodes, sending up erect, leafy shoots, up to 35 cm high ending in cluster of digitate spikes, 2-4 cm long. Leaves nearly distichous, leaf-blades flat, lanceolate, up to 7 cm long, sometimes hairy below, ligule a rim of short, fine hairs. Spikelets crowded, lemma bigger than glumes. Flowering from March to November.
