Seeds used for the treatment for kidney inflammations, roots for uterus problems. Good grazing for livestock.
Annual, stoloniferous grasses, with many branched, 5-50 cm high. Culms erect or prostrate and rooting at the nodes. Leaf-blades linear-acuminate, up to 22 cm long, ciliate on the margins. Ligule membranous. Inflorescence of 3-6 digitate spikes on tip of long peduncle. Spikelets 2-5 flowered on two dense rows. Glumes subequal, lower glume 1-nerved, upper 3-nerved with short awn. Lemmas compressed, acute. Grains small, ovate, transversely rugose. Flowering from February to May.
