Prostrate herb, 5-15 cm long, much branched from the base with many spreading stems, covered with appressed, silky hairs. Stipules 1-2 mm long, free. Leaves trifoliate; petiole 4-10 mm long; petiolule very short. Leaflets 4-12 mm long, obovate, obtuse, nearly glabrous above, pilose below, the central larger and the laterals smaller. Peduncles 0.5-5 cm long, leaf-opposed, bearing 1-4 shortly pedicellate flowers. Bracts and bracteoles small, linear. Calyx 4-7 mm long, bilabiate, pilose. Corolla yellow, tinged with red or pink; standard longer than the upper lip of calyx; the keel red-veined. Ovary silky-hairy. Pod 2-3 cm long, 2-3 mm broad. 4-15 seeded, pilose. Flowering from March to May.
