Delicate, filiform, erect or ascending, annual herb, 5-25 cm high, with quadrangular, finely or minutely scabridulous, or smooth-glabrous. Leaves in whorls of 5-8, linear-lanceolate, or filiform and revolute, up to 14 mm long. Cymes mostly near ends of stems. Peduncles up to 15 mm long. Pedicels 1-8 mm long, filiform, divaricate, glabrous. Corolla purplish, about 1 mm in diameter; lobes distinctly aristate. Mericarp ovoid, 0.5-0.8 mm long, densely covered with hooked, or appressed hairs, or glabrous, commissural groove, with yellowish, glandular tissue. Flowering in Spring.
