Dwarf, annual herb, 5-20 cm high. Hirsute. Stems angular, dichotomous or branched near base. Lower leaves spathulate or obovate, short-petiolate, serrate, 1-3 cm long and about 1 cm broad; upper leaves oblong, sessile, floral leaves 3-5 lobed, mostly opposite. Flowers very small, blue, subsessile, axillary and terminal. Calyx-lobes triangular, broad, in fruit spreading in star-shape. Corolla 3-4 mm long, tubular, slightly exceeding the calyx. Capsule nodding, top-shaped, dehiscing by latera pores. Flowering from February to March.
