A tufted, annual grass, 20-30 cm high. Leaf-blades linear, flat to rolled, 3-10 cm long. Panicle spicate, dense, woolly, cylindrical, 3-8 cm long 5-8 mm wide. Spikelets densely arranged, 5-12-flowered, sessile or subsessile. Glumes subequal, 0.6-1.2 mm long, acute. Lemmas 0.8-1.5 mm long, ciliated. Palea keels with long ciliated hairs. Stamens 2. Flowering in Spring.
Sandy or rocky places.
