Perennial herb up to 45 cm high. Stems woody at the base, more or less divaricately branching often reddish-brown. Leaves whorl at base and opposite at upper part, lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate 2-6 cm long and 0.5-2 cm broad, subsessile or with short petiole. Flowers on a large lax naked panicle, mostly solitary on filiform peduncles. Bracts linear. Perianth campanulate, pink. Stamens 2-3. Anthocarp 0.2-0.5 cm long, cylindrical-obconical, 5-ribbed. Flowering from February to July.
