Low to moderate salinity tolerance. Whole plant used for treating fevers including malarial fever. Dye from roots used as a cosmetic.
Annual herb, 6-30 cm high, hispid, all over of spreading, white, bulbous-base bristle, mostly branched near the base. Lower leaves linear-oblanceolate, 2-5 cm long, 4-7 mm wide, acute; upper leaves smaller. Flowers small, yellowish, densely arranged in one-side cymes; flowers nearly sessile. Calyx 5-7 mm long, hispid, linear not growing in fruit. Corolla yellow, hairy, with a tube, 1-2 cm long, twice as long as calyx; limb spreading. Stigma 2-flattened. Nutlets pyramidal, angled ventrally, glossy, smooth or verrucose about 1.5 mm long. Flowering from December to April.
Desert plant on sandy soil.
