Annual or sometimes perennial of variable habit, more or less pubescent, 10-35 cm high. Leaves linear to obovate-lanceolate, obtuse or acute, 1.5-3 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, subsessile. Racemes lateral, lax shorter than leaves bracts persistent, shorter than pedicle. Sepals persistent; outer sepals unequal, upper larger than the lower ones, broadly hyaline margined; inner sepals ovate, obtuse, 3-5 mm long, 1-3 mm broad, enlarged in fruit, oblique more or less pubescent, 3-nerved, veinlets anastomosing. Lateral petal shorter or equaling the keel. Wing pale, with green midrib. Capsule oblon 2-5 mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide, pubescent, marginal and apical ciliate. Seeds pilose. Flowering from January to April.
