A densely glandular-hairy, perennial herb. Stems leafy and branched. Leaves 1-3 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, ovate, subacute, crenate-serrate; upper leaves longer than calyx; softly pubescent, glandular-villous on both surfaces. Petioles 2-10 mm long. Flowers 1 or 2 in the axil of leaves, racemes. Pedicels very short. Calyx 4-6 mm long, divided nearly to middle, hairy. Corolla 10-12 mm long, 2-lipped, pubescent, violet-yellow. Stamens 4, included. Capsule ovoid, tip exserted. Seeds many, tiny. Flowering from March to May.
