Perennial grass, culms up to 35 cm long. Leaf blades folded or subterete. Ligules a fringe of hairs. Pancile up to 20 cm long. Spikelets 1-flowered, rachilla disarticulating above the glumes. Glumes glabrous 14-18 mm long. Central branches, lateral branches 15-18 mm long. Flowering in Spring.
Sandy salty soil.
