Leaves eaten to treat stomach disorders; seeds used as a condiment.
Perennial, erect herbs, of strong smell, up to 50 cm high, glabrous. Stem with many branches from the base. Leaves 3-8 cm long; segments linear or filiform, acute. Peduncle 5-25 cm long. Umbels of 8-15 rayed, the rays up to 6 cm long. Involucel of linear to ovate bracelets. Pedicels 2-4 mm long. Flowers 10-18 per umbellule, yellowish. Ovary pubescent, styles short, slender. Fruit 4-8 mm long, 3-5 mm broad, flat, oblong-ovate, with smooth, thickened margin. Flowering from February to May.
Gravel, sandy plains, silty soil and among rocks on hillsides.
