Highly salt tolerant, ornamental plant.
Perennial, glabrous, glaucous and rather succulent herb, when drying becoming blue-black. Stem with soft branches from a shrubby base, up to 70 cm procumbent. Leaves 2-4 cm long and 5-10 mm wide, spathulate to linear- oblong, obtuse, tapering at the base to a short petiole, while the upper leaves dense, linear-lanceolate, entire, with clear mid-vein. Inflorescence terminal, short, spicate, scorpioid cymes. Flowers small, sessile. Calyx persistent, lobes ovate, 1-2 mm long. Corolla white, 2-3 mm long. Anthers less than 1 mm long, often coherent at first. Stigma shortly conical. Nutlets 4, free, ventrally angled and often laterally grooved. Flowering from November to January.
