Annual, small herbs, 5-25 cm high, mostly branched from near the base, yellowish-green, hispid, with appressed hairs. Lower leaves linear-oblong, acute, sessile, 2-7 cm long, 4-10 mm wide; upper ones linear-lanceolate, acute. Fruiting inflorescence one-sided, elongated, loose. Bracts s long as calyx or little longer. Flowers subsessile. Calyx 5-9 mm long, hispid; lobes linear. Fruiting calyx indurated, pentagonal. gibbous, crested at angles. Corolla yellow, 1-2 cm long, tube up twice as long as the calyx. Stigma 4-cleft. Nutlets grey, ovoid-oblong, 1.5-2 mm long, rugose-verrucose. Flowering from January to April.
Sandy soil in depressions.
