Annual herb 10-40 cm. high. Stem erect or ascending, slender, more or less glabrous, much branched near the base, growing from adventitious fleshy roots. Basal leaves long-petioles, petioles 4-12 cm long, lamina big, more or less hairy, orbicular-reniform in shape, trilobed, tripartite, toothed lobes, upper leaves small with short petioles. Flowers solitary or many flowered in terminal panicles. Sepals 5, free, oblong to ovate 0.4-0.7 cm long and 0.2-0.4 cm broad petals obovate, bright yellow, 0.6-1 cm long and 0.3-0.5 cm broad. Stamens many. Carpels many, free. Achenes many, broadly elliptical, echinate with spiny tubercles ending with long uncinate beak. Flowering from February to April.
