Perennial climbing, glabrous herb up to one meter tall, with whitish green, grooved stems. Leaves broadly ovate to suborbicular 1.5-4.5 cm long and 1-3 cm broad, weakly sinuate, wavy, acute or obtuse at apex, leaf base cuneate. Petiole 1-2 cm long. Flowers small 0.5-0.7 cm long in lax terminal clusters on long stalks, pink or purple with 2 stamens. Anthocarp 0.4-0.6 cm long, turbinate, with a ring of large wart-like glands around the apex. Flowering from March to June.
