Perennial herb or shrublet. densely hairy up to 50 cm high. Stems erect or ascending, much branched, yellowish. Leaves 1-3 cm long and 0.3-0.5 cm. wide, narrow, linear to lanceolate, entire. Flowers many in clusters, densely crowded in a branched panicle. Fruiting bracts rounded 1-1.5 cm long and broad, with a deep sinus at apex, sharply sinuate-dentate margin and a cushion-like appendix, divided longitudinally with a furrow. Flowering from February to August.
Sandy soil and near coastal regions.
