Low annual herb, 10-30 cm high. Stem much branched from the base, glaucous, minutely scabrous. Leaves, narrow, 0.8-1.2 cm long, half-clasping at base, hyaline-margined, ending in a fine spine, sparsely setaceous in axils. Flowers 2-3 clustered in the upper axils. Perianth segments 1-1.2 mm long, 1 or 2 segments tapering into a long subulate spine in fruit. Flowering from October to Januray.
Sand-silt, often over limestone.
