Dwarf shrublet, much branched, white or greyish-green and villose-tomentose, up to 50 cm high. Stems thick woody with many opposite and alternate branches. Leaves small about 2 mm long, opposite, densely hairy, fleshy and scale-like, imbricated along the tetragonous-cylindrical flowering branchlet, leaf axils hairy. Flowers bisexual and unsexual solitary in dense catkin-like spikes; stamens 4-merous, and hermaphrodite, 5-merous. Perianth segments, developing short dorsal wings at maturity. Flowering from July-December.
Sandy-gravelly soil near coastal regions.
