Annual herb, ascending pubescent, branching from near base, 10-25 cm high. Stems slender, hirsute, with few branches. Leaves obovate to lanceolate, rounded or acute at apex, 10-20 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, and tapering at base to a short petiole. Stipules lanceolate, 4-6 mm long, and 2 mm wide. Inflorescence simple, lax or in terminal racemes. Pedicels erect or curved upwards, 4-10 mm long, longer than sepals. Bracts lanceolate, 4-8 mm long, and 2-4 mm wide. Sepals 5, the outer 2 reduced, bract-like, inner sepals ovate, yellow, nearly as long as sepals, often flowers remaining closed, capsule 3-7 mm long, ovoid-glabrous. Seeds flattened, ovoid, yellow-brown, minutely tuberculate. Flowering from February to April.
Silty dry soil, gravel plains and limestone slopes.
