  • REMARKS: Seedlings and young plants have characteristic shape of one erect stem with 2 stems branching off at 90 degrees near the base. This is one of a few annuals that range into the northern part of the Empty Quarter.

Ascending to prostrate annual herb, 4-30 cm long, with scattered stellate, appressed hairs. Stems usually branching from the base, often viscid. Leaves linear or oblong, 5-45 mm long and 1-3 mm wide, entire, obtuse, sessile, tapering towards base. Racemes compact. Flowers pedicellate, 2-6 mm long. Sepals linear-oblong, strongly saccate at the base. Petals 4-11 mm long, varying in color from white to pink or mauve, narrowly lingulate-spathulate, entire. Siligues linear-oblong, 10-35 mm long and 1.5-2.5 wide, straight, valves readily spreading, torulose, hairy. Pedicels 2-6 mm long. Seeds reddish to brown, smooth, oblong-ovoid. Flowering from February to April.
