Perennial tree with fan-shaped leaves forming clumps several meters across. Trunk with branches that can be prostrate to erect. Leaves on 15-30 cm long stalks, fan shaped with deep cuts, forming leaflets 7-30 * 20-45 cm, covered with brown, woolly hair. Inflorescence on 200 cm stalk from middle, projecting beyond the leaves. Flowers creamy-white, 0.4-0.5 cm, with or without short stalk. Fruits round to oval, containing one seed. Seeds 1.2-1.6 * 1.2-1.5 cm, edible. Flowering from March to June.
