Whole plant used as an astringent and as a narcotic. Also used to treat rheumatic pain.
Annual or biennial, 30-70 cm high. Stems erect, much branched, sparsely appressed-hairy above or sometimes glabrous. Stipules 4-6 mm long, lanceolate-subulate, entire. Leaves 3-foliolate; petioles 10-20 mm long, leaflets obovate-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 8-15 mm long, 4-8 mm broad, all cuneate and entire below, denticulate around the upper half, sparsely pilose on the lower surface or glabrous. Flowers 3-5 mm long, white. Pod obovate, apiculate, about 3 mm long, glabrous, natted, wrinkled, brown when mature, 1-2 seeded. Seeds ovoid, small, yellowish-brown, smooth. Flowering from February to April.
