Erect, annual herb, much branched from the base, sparsely pubescent, 30-50 cm high. Leaflets 1-3 cm long, narrowly oblong-elliptic, mucronate, rarely retuse. Stipules oblong to lanceolate, ciliate. Inflorescence mostly terminal, ovate to oblong, dense, up to 3 cm long; flowers sessile, ebracteate; peduncles 1-5 cm longer than the subtending leaves. Calyx 4-6 mm long, with 10-veined, hairy, teeth unequal. Corolla twice as long as calyx, white to cream coloured. Pod ovate, included in the calyx tube. Seeds chestnut brown, hairy, 2mm long. Flowering from March-May.
Roadsides and cultivated as a forage crop.
