  • REMARKS: Easily confused with Medicago laciniata, but the latter has prickly round fruits. The species name 'hamosa' means 'hooked', referring to the shape of the pod.

Annual, ascending or decumbent, much branched from base, glabrous to sparsely pubescent, 15-40 cm high. Petioles 5-25 mm long. Leaflets 10-20 mm long, 3-7 mm broad obovate-oblong to cuneate, dentate and mucronate at apex. Stipules dentate. Flowers in peduncled heads or racemes, the inflorescence borne on a peduncle 15-30 mm long. Flowers 4-6 mm long. Calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, campanulate, hairy. Corolla yellow, standard longer than wings, obovate, 3-6 mm long. Pod 8-18 mm long, linear, cylindrical, curved, with reticulate-veins and mucronate apex. Flowering from February to May.
