Honey nectar plants.
Perennial herb, 15–50 cm high; stems procumbent, striate, pilose to hirsute. Leaves opposite or alternate near inflorescence, outline ovate to elliptic, 1.5–7(–12)´0.5–3.5(–6) cm, simple to 3‑lobed or 3‑cleft, base cuneate to attenuate, margins coarsely dentate, apex acute or acuminate, scabrid on both surfaces, petiolate; petiole to 1.5 cm long. Capitula solitary on stalks to 22 cm long; involucre 5–8 mm long; outer phyllaries green, inner light brown, scabrid-pilose; paleae linear, 6–9 mm long, keeled. Ray florets pale yellow or cream, 3–6, rays 2–5´2 mm; disk florets yellow, 5–7 mm long. Achenes black, cylindrical to narrowly obovoid, 1.8–2.5 mm long, pubescent; pappus of ray florets reduced, 2–3 mm long, of disk florets of plumose unequal bristles 3–5 mm long, flattened near base. Flowering from March–June.
