Perennial, succulent. Stems erect, branching, up to 30 cm high, 50 cm across. Stems whitish green sometimes tinged with red, 2*2 cm, quadrangular in cross section, crenellated edges. Inflorescence cluster of 20-100 flowers at end of stems. Flowers yellow, five narrowly tringular petals, 1.5-2 cm across. Staminal column yellow with 5 paired horns, 0.3 cm long. Unpleasant smell. Fruits paired, smooth, cylindrical, 0.5*12 cm, on 2 cm long stalks. Seeds brown, 0.4-0.5* 0.7-0.8 cm, with a tuft of long white hairs. Flowering from February to May.
Grows in rocky mountains.
