Annual herb, up to 40 cm high, stellate hairy. Stems erect, divaricately branched. Leaves 3-8 cm long, ovate-lanceolate, longer than broad, usually acute and little repand but never 3-lobed, always thick-woolly, petioles up to 9 cm long. Stipules filiform. Male flowers with 4-5 stamens, rarely 6-7. Capsule glabrous, globose, 6-8 mm in diameter, 3-lobes, scaly, tubercled. Flowering from May to September.
