Annual, glabrous, small, dark-green herb. Stems many, rigid, ascending from the woody root branched, up to 50 cm. Leaves numerous, rounded obovate, obtuse, sessile to short-petioled, 8-18 mm long or more and 3-7 mm wide, arranged in 2 rows, along the branches. Flowers minute, 2-4 mm across. Male flowers sessile. Female flowers shortly pedicelled, 1-1.5 mm long. Styles minute, free, 2-lobed. Capsule 2-3 mm in diameter, green, depressed-globose, smooth. Seeds small, brown. Flowering from September to December.
