Perennial, pubescent, 5-30 cm high. Stems many branched from woody base. Leaves variable in shape and size, obovate-lanceolate or linear, retuse, obtuse or acutish, more or less recurved, 5-12 mm long, 2-4 mm wide. Racemes terminal and lateral, lax. Bracts deciduous. Sepals persistent, outer sepals unequal, with hyaline margined, inner sepals obovate, 4-6 mm long, 3-4 mm broad, oblique, glabrous or hairy above, 3-nerved or reticulate, veins frequently red. Latrel petals cuneate, equaling or longer than keel, capsule ovate-orbicular, emarginate, broad, oblique at top and base, glabrous winged. Seeds obovate, pilose. Flowering from February to May.
