Spinescent shrub, up to 60 cm high, intericately-branched, spreading, young stems and branches freshly green, older ones woody, often whitish. Leaves linear-lanculate, lobed, serrate, blue-green, soon deciduous. Heads terminal, solitary. Flowers few, yellow. Involucre with wide, hyaline margins. Achenes some what dorsallly flattened, ribbed, tuberculate. Pappus longer than Achenes. 

Flowering from March to July.
