Annual or perennial herb, up to 30 cm high. Stem stiff, much branched, branches slender, terete, suberect, pubescent, with spreading hairs. Leaves very variable in shape and size, 1-3.5 cm long, hairy or not, sometimes ciliate on margins; triangular-hastate, petioles 1-1.5 cm long. Flowers solitary-axillary; pedicels 1-2 cm long, ebracteate. Calyx 5-linear lobed, 4-6 mm long. Corolla bilabiate, yellow-violet, about 1 cm long, including spur, pubescent outside. Filaments with few long hairs at base and papillose above. Style glandular-pubescent. Fruit an avoid capsule, 3-5 mm in diameter, pubescent at apex only. Seeds brown, minute. Flowering from February to April.
