An erect herb, up to 70 cm high. Stem 6-angled. Leaves 3-6 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm broad, ovate, acuminate, lineolate, hairy and densely hairy on the veins and nerves beneath, rounded at base. Petioles 5-10 mm long. Flowers in a lax panicles. Bracts 2, opposite, very unequal, linear, acute; bracteoles 4, linear, subequal shorter than bracts. Calyx 5-lobed, 4-6 mm long, divided near to the base, lobes linear-lanceolate, margins ciliolate, corolla about 1 cm long, 2-lipped, rose-pink or white, with darker spots on the lower lip, pubescent outside. Ovary pubescent. Fruit a capsule, about 6 mm long, covered with glandular and simple hairs. Seeds orbicular, hairy. Flowering from November to March.
