Erect, small, annual herb, simple or branched at base, 3-15 cm high, branches ascending, densely leafy, glabrescent, often viscid with adhering sand grains. Leaves narrowly linear, spreading, acute 1-1.5 cm long, protruding from the spike. Heads very small, in clusters among the leaves throughout the length of the branches. Involucral bracts scarious, ovate, aristate, golden-yellow. Achenes minute, less than 1 mm long. Bristle of pappus denticulate at base. Flowering from February to April.
Sandy soil or gravel plains.
