Desert shrub, 30-50 cm high, many stemmed, with short-stalked glands on younger shoots and leaves or nearly glabrous. Stems striate, corymbosely branched, with long narrow soft-spiny leaves. Heads long-pedunculate, in lx cymes. Involucre cylindrical to obconical, 5-9 mm long; involucral bracts glabrous, obovate-oblong, obtuse, mucronate, with a green stripe and narrow scarious margins. Achenes 3-4 mm long, hirsute. Pappus-bristle yellow, twice as long as achenes. Flowering from February to September.
