Perennial grass, tufted, often stoloniferous, glabrous, with erect or ascending culms, up to 50 cm high, mostly with dark-nodes. Leaf-blades, flat, linear-lanceolate, acute, 3-8 cm long, 2-4 mm broad. Ligule membranous. Inflorescence an open panicle, with a few, simple branches, with laxly arranged spikelets. Spikelets with few to many-flowerd, dark-green, up to 9 mm long. Glumes unequal, 3-5 mm long, 1-nerved. Lemmas glabrpus, 3-nerved, up to 3 mm long. Flowering in Spring.
Sandy soil.
