Spring grazing grass.
Annual, small grasses. Culms single to densely tufted ascending to erect, 8-30 cm cm high, glabrous and smooth. Leaf-blades 2-8 cm long, linear-lanceolate, acute, shortly ciliate on the margins. Ligule scarious. Panicle ovate-oblong, lax or dense or lobed, 1-6 cm long. Spikelets 2.5-3.5 mm long, usually 3-4 flowered, radial projecting beyond the florets and densely long hairy. Glumes subequal or equal, with lower little longer than upper one, elliptic 3-nerved, 2-3 mm long, densely hairy. Lemmas 5-nerved, subequal, glabrous, awned, awns straight to curved, 1.5-2.5 mm long, at back inserted slightly below the apex. Flowering in Spring.
A weed in cultivated fields and roadsides.
